Selecting and combining modernization scenarios
The previously discussed sample modernization scenarios do not represent an exhaustive list of potential modernization project options. Most companies have a long list of project requirements that involve existing application and data assets. Most of these projects will combine aspects of common modernization scenarios as well as aspects of Greenfield replacement and COTS deployment. The hybrid nature of modernization projects means that management, analysts, and project planning teams must be creative in terms of structuring and proposing solutions to business and IT issues.
