It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Si el diseño de tu proyecto está algo estandarizado, elimina parte de la carga mental que supone cambiar de un proyecto a otro. Es más fácil que alguien trabaje en tu proyecto si ha visto algo similar antes. Si tu código está bien diseñado, es más fácil reutilizar partes de él en otros proyectos, y es más fácil añadir nuevas funciones.
