Several years ago, I had a student in my class who left an indelible impression on me. I was teaching a higher education, leadership, and policy course in a community college leadership doctoral program and a silver-haired gentleman walked into the classroom in a rather non-assuming manner. During the first two weeks of the course, he was extremely quiet, but very attentive. I started to initiate conversations with him during breaks and found him to be a fascinating person.
