Fourteen years of experience have provided FOAK with processes, guidelines, and tools that address many of the challenges associated with collaborative innovation. And even though the program has a cadre of FOAK veterans to draw on for advice and mentoring, no one can project how collaborative innovation will evolve in the future.

We began this book with the statement that innovation is a social activity. Even the best ideas can provide value only if they are shared with others who can contribute to their adoption. Throughout this book, we’ve tried to illustrate how FOAK socializes ideas, and we hope that some of the approaches that are used can be adopted by others.
