The year 2020 witnessed an unprecedented pandemic followed by global lockdowns. It caused factories, offices and retail businesses to close shops, economies to come to a grinding halt and millions of job losses. Not all was lost, however. People across the globe learned to remodel their homes, school and workspace. Working from home became an accepted practice, and the digitization of services became the flavor of the season. Digitization is, however, not a recent phenomenon. Its roots go back to the mid-1950s.
