Introducing AutoLISP
LISP is a programming language originally developed for use in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the early 1960s. In fact, with the possible exception of FORTRAN, LISP is the only surviving high-level programming language from the 1960s. There are some dozen dialects, or subsets, of LISP in use today. LISP is an acronym for LISt Processor and all of LISP’s data are, indeed, contained in the form of lists.
AutoLISP is Autodesk’s own subset of LISP. Due to AutoCAD’s overall popularity, there are more worldwide users of AutoLISP today than of any other implementation of the popular LISP language.
