Layer Translation

Users of AutoCAD have been doing layer translations for years, usually by hand or via a custom script file. They would simply rename the layer to another name and then use the LAYER command to change any properties such as color and linetype. Obviously, for large drawings this can be quite a time-consuming process.

With the introduction of AutoCAD 2002 comes a new feature called Layer Translator (LATYTRANS). This program makes the process of changing layer names and properties as painless as possible. The exercise that follows shows you how to use this new feature.
