Introducing DIESEL
Although the DIESEL language is not as fast, robust, or flexible as AutoLISP, it does have several distinct capabilities not available with AutoLISP. First, you can configure the MODEMACRO system variable using a DIESEL expression. The content of the MODEMACRO system variable is displayed in a left-aligned pane in the status bar at the bottom of the AutoCAD window, as shown in Figure 35.1. Although the MODEMACRO system variable has no initial value by default, it can be made to display useful information using DIESEL. Historically, this is the primary use of DIESEL, and it is the usage discussed in this chapter.
