Where Applications Store Settings

Knowing how to find out where applications keep their settings is one of the most important skills to learn with Terminal Server. You should not only understand where your applications store their settings, but also add this information into your application installation document.

Applications generally store their settings in one of three places: the Registry, .INI files, or custom settings files stored in either the application directory or user profile directory.
