NFS on Solaris
NFS was developed by Sun Microsystems, and it has been ported to most popular OSes. The implementation of NFS is large, and it varies from system to system. As the NFS service evolved, it went through a few different versions. Therefore, if you are using NFS to connect to another system, you need to be aware of the different versions of NFS.
NFS version 2 was the first version of the NFS protocol in wide use. It continues to be available on a large variety of platforms.
