Creating a Custom Small Search Box

In Chapter 2, we looked at the small Search box that is part of the out-of-the-box end-user experience with both Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and Office SharePoint Server 2007. Developers have the option to replace the small Search box with a custom version. This can be useful in scenarios where a business requires a predefined or an extended way of entering search queries. An obvious example is the ability for end users to make use of wildcards in search queries. Chapter 8 covers a sample that demonstrates how to enable wildcards for the user.
