PPP Authentication

PPP requires that the user present a set of credentials that are then validated by the remote access server. Security of outside connections is supremely important, so it is worth taking a long look at the details of each authentication method. This information helps you to decide which protocol to use and how to troubleshoot if the protocol gets misconfigured.

PPP itself has no preferred authentication protocol. The authentication method is negotiated during the Link Control Protocol stage of the connection transaction.
