I want to thank all of my students from the past thirty years; they have made this book possible—not only those whose work is shown, but each and every one of them. Their classroom contributions form an integral part of my development as a teacher and professional designer. Their work and spirit pervade the pages of this book and the days of my life.

I should like to give individual credit for each piece of student work shown, but these were classroom exercises and there is no longer any record of who did what.
