Constructing a Layout Grid
Once the page format is set up, you need to create a layout grid for your template. A layout grid serves as a construction plan that indicates where the different elements of a document will be placed. It takes the guesswork out of page layout and speeds up production. It also gives the designer freedom to introduce design variations without forsaking readability or consistency. In large workflows, a well-defined layout grid allows multiple designers to collaborate more effectively on projects.
