Chapter 4

Cutting Up!

It’s time to start building your project by adding media to the Timeline, creating audio and video tracks, and learning some basic editing techniques.

Though video and audio reside on separate tracks, the software treats them equally as events. Vegas Movie Studio calls anything on the Timeline an “event.” The principles discussed in this chapter apply whether it is a video or audio event. Where they differ, it will be so noted.

Put photos on the Overlay track if you find yourself running out of track layer options.

When you add multiple files to the Timeline all at once, they will be placed in alphanumeric order. However, note that the actual file you drag will be placed first.
