Installation
PowerShell 3.0 is available for a variety of operating systems. These include Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, and Windows Server 2012. Microsoft made the decision to restrict the use of PowerShell 3.0 on operating systems prior to Windows 7 and Server 2008 SP2 and they are not supported by the latest release of PowerShell.
Tip
For systems that have Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, PowerShell 3.0 is included with the operating system, and no further installation is required.
