Instructional designers swear by the ADDIE model — a great way to remember that Analyzing, Designing, Developing, Implementing, and Evaluating are the steps you follow in doing any kind of instructional design. By the time you get to the third phase (and second “D”) of the ADDIE model process, you’ll have completed your analyses, chosen the delivery system you’ll use, and have a solid design plan in hand. The development stage focuses on the actual creation or production of the learning materials according to your design specifications and chosen delivery mode. The end product is a training package that can basically stand alone and is ready to be delivered by an instructor or as a stand-alone technology lesson.
