Control Systems
Abstract
This chapter is a discussion of PID control of analogue control systems and the issues that can arise with such forms of control. Digital control systems are also considered, and the principles of the z-transform and the digital transfer function are introduced and applied to describing the behaviour of systems. The basic elements of Industrial control networks are discussed, including discussions of the principles of digital networks, CAN networks, automated assembly lines and automated process plant networks including Fieldbus, PLCs in industrial networks, SCADA and CIP.
