23.1. Introduction
The analysis of substances by spectroscopic techniques is a rather specialized field and cannot be covered in full depth in a book such as this. However, some 15 techniques are covered here, with the basic principles for each, descriptions of commercial instruments, and, where possible, their use as online analyzers.
