Abstract

The automobile industry is an ever-evolving industry. For over a century we have seen a paradigm shift in the technology used in building as well as running cars. It is a well-known fact that IC (Internal Combustion) engine cars are highly efficient and have dominated the automobile industry for many decades now. In today’s world, every individual either owns an automobile or is dependent on it for their daily commute. The majority of cars being run today are IC engine cars and the main source of energy for them are petrol and diesel. Now, these being fossil fuels are depleting at a much higher rate and are expected to run out soon or even sooner than predicted as the demand or consumption of them is increasing exponentially every single day while petroleum resources are depleting at a much higher rate. Over the years, EVs (Electric Vehicles) have emerged as an alternative to the IC engine vehicles as they curb two major problems—depletion of fossil fuel and heavy contribution to environmental pollution. But the problem with the current EVs is their range. The range of EVs is comparatively much less than that of an IC engine vehicle. Adding to this, there exists no major infrastructure ...
