Abstract

This chapter proposes a novel scheme for texture segmentation based on ant colony optimization (ACO). Texture segmentation and texture characteristic expression are two important areas in image-pattern recognition. Artificial bee colony optimization, gray wolf optimization, and several other optimization algorithms, have been applied for image-texture segmentation. However, until now, an effective way for accomplishing the segmentation and texturing tasks is still a major challenge in practical applications, such as iris image processing and brain magnetic resonance image (MRI) processing. ...
