Abstract

Smart city is an intelligent and high-tech city that connects people and things with the help of new technologies to make the city more sustainable. Smart city will become smart by providing its people smart solutions, which can be through decision support system (DSS). DSS can be used in modeling a smart city with the use of Internet of Things (IoT), cloud services, artificial intelligence (AI), everything-as-a-service (XaaS) position it ahead of many other softwares. The leading step has been the identification of challenges faced in implementing the software and understanding the solutions that can be provided to overcome these challenges. The primary purpose of the research is to identify these challenges, which withhold the use of the DSS in smart cities and provide optimal solution to them by using multicriteria decision making (MCDM) approach. The MCDM approach of fuzzy-technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) has been used. The results have been validated using the case of smart cities situated in the northerly part of India.
