Abstract
Internet of things is a gateway to link several objects aiming to communicate with each other and parallelly easing the human manual work such that the same work does not require the amount of energy it usually does, and the muscle work is done by the machine with a greater accuracy than what is done by the human but the new problem the world faces is the problem of sustainability, which can be devastating. What we fail to understand is that sustainability is not just the careful use of natural resources, it includes social, economic, and environmental factors. While developing better cities and better living conditions, we often forget the role of people and the number of resources it can drain. This chapter aims to provide surveys and analysis of the smart city projects and how we can sustain them and balance the planet, people, and profits. Also, suggesting new technological implementations that are not just appealing to us but solve actual problems in developing countries like India.
