Video encoders, also sometimes called video servers, are key pieces of equipment that help analog closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems migrate into an open platform–based network video system. They will continue to play a significant role in the video surveillance market because the vast majority of surveillance cameras installed worldwide are still analog.
