Comic strips and comic superheroes have taken up permanent residence on the Internet in such great numbers that they seem to have formed a unique genre of interactive entertainment. Where sites were once simply static frame-by-frame comic presentations, more and more bells and whistles have been added until these sites have become some of the more interesting examples of the interactive form. Moreover, because animation is extremely well suited to comics, they offer a convenient set of content to study the various uses of animation and motion on the Web. So, here is a review of the variety of comic strip Web sites and some of the interesting games they have spawned.
