A number of books have been published on IPv6. This chapter provides a technology refresher to show how IPv6 is used for IP smart objects. More details on IPv6 that are less applicable to Low-power and Lossy Networks (LLNs) are not covered in this chapter. For more information the reader is referred to [104], [49], [201], [17], [243], [164], and the IPv6 RFCs produced by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for more details.
