This chapter surveys the range of experiences that can be dubbed eLearning or EdTech. As mentioned in Chapter 1, “Introducing IDL,” there’s still an extraordinary amount of ambiguity surrounding terms in the eLearning field. Since my goal is to help designers speak the local language and navigate the landscape, I’ve favored the most commonly used terms and included mention of alternatives when helpful.
Think of the headings in this chapter more as signposts than as dividers, because there is much overlap.
