Encryption

You can use encryption to help protect the private information that clients exchange with your server, such as credit card numbers or phone numbers. Encryption scrambles the information before it is sent, and decryption unscrambles the information after it is received. The foundation for this encryption in IIS is the SSL protocol, which establishes an encrypted communication link with users. SSL confirms the authenticity of your Web site and, optionally, the identity of users that access restricted Web sites.
