Home Directory

The next tab in the IIS snap-in for a specific Web site is actually the most important tab for a Web site. The Home Directory tab enables you to specify which physical directory is accessed when a user accesses the Web site. Recall that when a user types a URL, such as http://www.connectos.com/, a DNS server determines which IP address is referenced by the FQDN, and then the IIS server determines which physical directory is referenced by the IP address.
