Internet speech

Abstract:

This chapter first examines the concept of freedom of speech, including its meaning and scope, major restrictions, and special problems caused by the Internet. It then discusses in detail how China regulates Internet speech that may harm national security, the social order, and one's reputation. The discussion also involves evaluation of how China strikes a balance between protecting free speech and preserving national security, the social order, or people's reputation.
