Chapter 20. SIP Identity Aspects
This chapter covers some aspects regarding the management of the identity of SIP request originators. This includes aspects about how to assert such an identity—and also about how to hide it. First we present a general discussion about the topic, and then we describe three different approaches for identity management in SIP.
Identity Management in SIP
For the purpose of this chapter, we will use the expression “SIP identity management” to refer to the mechanisms for asserting and withholding the SIP identity of a user who is generating a request.
