Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is an application layer protocol that facilitates the exchange of management information between network devices. It is part of the TCP/IP protocol suite. SNMP is defined in several RFCs that are part of Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards. SNMP lets network administrators monitor, configure, and troubleshoot the network and plan for network growth.
