Abstract: Engagement of two or more individuals in an intercultural encounter, generally referred to as intercultural communication, has been investigated in several social science disciplines, particularly in communication, psychology, and anthropology. This chapter examines and integrates key theories, concepts, and associated research findings from the largely separate disciplinary lines of inquiry, so as to form a broad understanding of the nature of intercultural communication.
