Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) is another important part of the overall IDA solution provided by Windows Server 2008. AD FS is designed to address a situation that is common in business nowadays—a partner or client that resides on a different network has to access a Web application exposed by your own organization’s extranet. In a typical scenario, the client has to enter secondary credentials to this when she tries to access a Web page on your extranet.
