Sampling is a process of selecting a representative subset of a population for analysis. Sampling and analysis are part of a process to answer research questions. Populations and sampling methods are different, depending on the size and variation of the population, and the question to be answered. For example in a nationwide study of political opinions, people answer questions about their tendency to vote for candidates, or supporting a political party. For potential customers of a new baby stroller, people answer questions about their interest in this product, and their tendency to purchase it.
