Wireless Local Area Networks

In this chapter, we will explore the wonderful world of wireless communication. Wireless technology comes in many shapes and sizes. We use them daily: simple devices such as the TV remote control and garage door openers, and more complex devices such as cellular telephones, personal digital assistants, and satellite-based TV. Wireless is pervasive in our personal and professional lives. The scope of wireless is so wide that it would take a full book, if not a series of books, to explore the entire field.
