B.I INTRODUCTION

This book teaches the whys and the hows of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). While this knowledge is essential for anyone who plans to work in or use the results produced by CFD, it is not enough to solve completely the CFD-oriented problems that arise in typical industrial situations. Solving such problems involves additional processing—the so-called “pre-” and “post-”processing—in which a grid of some sort has to be generated and the input data described with reference to it before the CFD program can be run; and the mass of numbers produced by the CFD program has to be made accessible to the user in the form of graphs, charts and—increasingly—animations.
