Just talk to someone! Like all transmission systems, this involves a transmitter, a transmission medium and a receiver. To use this system in its simplest form we have few requirements that, in most cases, are given to us free of charge: a voice to make the sound, air for it to travel through and ears to receive it.
The drawbacks are obvious. We are limited in range. We are limited in the number of messages that can be passed at the same and we cannot send pictures. And it is terribly slow.
