Does it work?

We need to test wiring to prove that we have done the work correctly and to locate any problems with the system. The first and most obvious check is to see if the cables go to the right places.

There is a series of tests to be carried out on cables. As we will see in a moment, some are applicable to all cables and some are applied to just a few, depending on category of use and whether they are twisted pairs or coaxial cables.

To help us, we have available a range of instruments. It is a good idea to read through a few cable suppliers’ catalogs to see what is currently available.
