Access matrix: a table containing the authorization information, which the database system consults each time an access request is issued in the system—the columns of access matrix represent objects and rows represent subjects

Access time: the period of time that elapses between a request for information from disk or memory, and the information arriving at the requesting device

ACID properties: the acronym derived from the first letter of the terms atomicity, consistency, isolation, and durability—the four desirable properties of the transaction
