Summary

Abstract

This chapter surveys the various light-trapping approaches discussed in earlier chapters. It also reclassifies them into dielectric-materials-based and metallic-materials-based. Since arrays are seen to play such an important role in efficient light trapping, the interesting question of how random perturbations in array structure can impact light trapping is explored. Since the ultimate objective is light and carrier collection, the effect of arrays and of perturbations in array structure on both light trapping and carrier collection is discussed.
