Typical flyaway operation
Because there is such a wide variation of situations for flyaway operations, it is perhaps most useful to look at a particular scenario.
Let us imagine that the story is a major international one; for example, in the aftermath of the attacks on New York and Washington of 11 September 2001. During the US reprisals against Afghanistan, there was a major newsgathering presence in Pakistan.
