Introduction
A data card is a portable card equipped with magnetic, radio‑wave, microcircuits, or other data storage or transmission capabilities. Common data cards include debit/credit cards, retail store membership cards, building access cards, and ID cards.
The term smart card is used rather broadly to mean cards that can be read without directly contacting a surface or which contain more sophisticated tracking capabilities or communication protocols.
