It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Objective: As a new z/OS system programmer, you need to develop a thorough understanding of the hardware that runs the z/OS operating system. z/OS is designed to make full use of mainframe hardware and its many sophisticated peripheral devices. You should also understand how the hardware and software achieves near-continuous availability through concepts such as Parallel Sysplex and “no single points of failure.”
