3 Tracking Time
This chapter describes a procedure and a form for tracking and recording the way you spend time. It also gives examples of the kinds of time records to keep. For the assignment, you will establish and use a Time Recording Log.
3.1 Why Track Time?
As described in Chapter 1, the way to improve the quality of your work is to start by understanding what you currently do. This means you have to know the tasks you do, how you do them, and the results you get. The first step in this process is to define the tasks and find out how much time you spend on each. To do this, you must actually measure the time. This chapter describes how to measure time and it introduces a form to help you do it.
