Intruder alarm detection devices

This chapter concerns itself with the range of detectors currently available. It considers them in terms of principles of operation, false alarm avoidance, set-up procedures and identification.

The different versions of protective switches, both mechanical and magnetic, will be described, including mercury tilt contacts, micro-switches and the most common magnetic reed switches. Contact forms that will need to be understood include momentary break and changeover.

The application of continuous wiring either directly attached, or in tubes, together with transverse methods are included in this chapter, and so is foil on glass, although now replaced in many applications by piezoelectric and acoustic glass break ...
