DESIGNATED ROUTER FOR A NETWORK
The value of partitioning an autonomous system into smaller and more manageable areas is especially important for an enterprise that is faced with the interconnection of a large set of networks, routers, and hosts. To illustrate, consider networks 1 and 3 and router 1 in Figure 6-7. Router 1 connects the two networks, network 1 and network 3, an Ethernet and token ring respectively.
