All of the more recent iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models that have a front-facing camera allow you to shoot digital images or video clips (using the Camera app). These same cameras, along with your device’s built-in microphone and speaker (or an optional corded or wireless headset), can be used for real-time video calls.
