All of the apps on your iPhone or iPad exist as separate entities and probably make great sounds all on their own. But musicians never satisfy themselves with a single instrument or a pre-packaged sound arrangement. Why would they give us all of those knobs and switches and keys if we weren’t supposed to play with them? In “real life,” you can always patch together different sounds and effects to get the sound you want (or make a hellacious racket, whichever you choose). Why not do that in iOS as well?

In this chapter, we take a look at how Inter-app Audio works and how you can configure it for your own uses. The functionality may differ from app to app, but the net results are the same — you make the apps you want work together to realize what you want to play.
