CHAPTER 6Connecting the iPad and iPhone to Your Mail Servers

In this chapter, I’ll show you how to connect the iPad and iPhone to your mail servers so that users can send, receive, and mismanage their e-mail. We’ll start with Microsoft Exchange, because it’s the most widely used e-mail solution overall, but we’ll also cover how to set up e-mail with other mail servers.

As with much iPad and iPhone configuration, you can set up Exchange or e-mail either by using a configuration profile or by working directly on the device. You’ll probably use configuration profiles for most of the iOS devices you manage, but it’s likely you’ll also need to configure some of them manually, either from the word go or to troubleshoot particular problems.
